Questions
What is a masked Aadhaar?
A copy where the first 8 digits of the Aadhaar number are replaced, leaving only the last 4 visible (XXXX XXXX 1234). UIDAI recommends sharing a masked Aadhaar where full verification is not needed.
Is my Aadhaar uploaded anywhere?
No. Detection and masking run in your browser. The photo or PDF never leaves your device.
Does it mask the QR code?
No. The QR code is left as it is. On older cards it can contain the full number, so cover it too if that matters for you.
Why add a purpose stamp?
A stamp like "Copy for hotel check-in only · 15 Oct 2026" makes it harder for anyone to reuse your copy for something else.
