What is the password for an e-Aadhaar PDF?
The first four letters of your name as printed on the Aadhaar, in capital letters, followed by your year of birth in YYYY format. For example, SURE1989.
Is it safe to unlock Aadhaar on a website?
On most sites you upload your Aadhaar to their server. Here the file is opened and unlocked inside your browser and is never uploaded.
The password is not working. What should I try?
Use the name exactly as printed on the card, ignore spaces and dots, and check the birth year. If your name is shorter than four letters, try the full name plus the year.
Should I share a masked Aadhaar instead?
Yes, when possible. A masked Aadhaar hides the first 8 digits. You can download one from UIDAI, or redact the number yourself before sharing.
