Questions
What is the passport photo size in India?
Printed: 35×45 mm (3.5×4.5 cm) with a white background. For the new ICAO-compliant upload in Passport Seva (from December 2025), Indian missions list a 630×810 px colour photo, white background, with the face filling most of the frame and a file size of up to 250 KB. Check the latest notice for your office.
What size is a US passport or visa photo?
2×2 inches (51×51 mm). Digital: square, 600×600 to 1200×1200 px, head 1 to 1⅜ inches (50–69% of the height), plain white or off-white background.
What about UK and Schengen photos?
Both are 35×45 mm. The UK asks for a head of 29–34 mm and, for digital photos, at least 600×750 px and 50 KB to 10 MB. Schengen asks for a head of 32–36 mm on a light background.
How do I print passport photos?
Download the 4×6 in sheet and print it as a normal 4×6 (10×15 cm) photo at any studio or kiosk, at 100% size with no borders added. Cut along the light grey lines.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Face detection and background removal run in your browser. Your photo stays on your device.
Will my photo be accepted?
We size and frame it to the published rules, but acceptance also depends on lighting, expression, glasses and how recent the photo is. Follow the official guidance, and do not edit your face.
